So, do you think Joey likes beets?

The Oregonian was hanging out at Lewis Elementary yesterday during lunch time. Our school participates in the Harvest of the Month program where each month (or so) they have one or two locally grown fruits or vegies to try. This month they're trying out beets. It sounds like the reporter had fun getting kids' opinions about eating beets and Joey was one of the kids she talked to. If you read the article his comment is toward the end. -Holly

Mr. Moon, Mr. Moon, You're . . . disappearing?

The boys and I climbed up onto the roof to check out the eclipse (Steve was off with his writing group). We knew the moon was rising just to the north of Mt. Hood, but we couldn't see it from our yard (darn those trees). From the roof we got to watch as the eclipse began. VERY COOL! Then, we checked on it as the eclipse became full (which we could see from our front step). The moon turned a neat reddish hue during the full eclipse. Joey took the picture on the right up on our roof (you can see the eclipse to our left).

Mouse Visits Again!

Mouse (from If you give a Mouse a Cookie. . . ) joined us for the afternoon. The kids in Tim's class get to take him home for a night (or a weekend) and then have to write in the journal that comes with Mouse about what they did with Mouse.

Today Mouse joined Tim in doing homework reading (My Father's Dragon), getting a haircut, going to the grocery store, taking a picture with Tim (Tim figured out how to use the timer on his camera), emptying the dishwasher and watching Cyber Chase. Quite an eventful day for a little guy!

Night Night

A couple months ago the boys decided they were done sharing a room. We split up the bunk bed, separated the toys, and now they are back to having a bedroom each.

Notice Tim sleeping with his dagger. His first few nights of sleeping alone he was concerned about Goblins getting into his room. Luckily, a night sleeping with his pajamas inside out (for those of you who don't know, if you wear your clothes inside out the faeries don't trick you) solved that problem. And Batsy doesn't really sleep in Joe's room, although he'd be happy if she did. We had her jump up on the bed for the picture, she didn't want to get down.

It's all about the hat.

We've been neglecting the blog lately, so now we're catching up on some old photos and happenings. This is a picture Tim took after everyone went with me for some hat shopping downtown. I was hoping to get a Pot Pie hat, but evidently I have an oval head which isn't suited to hard hats that are round. The sales lady explained all this like it was an every day thing, but I am now tremendously self conscious of my oval shaped head. Despite that, I posted Tim's picture of me and my new hat.

Visit Roseburg NOW!!

Joey finished his big school project about the city of Roseburg. He did a lot of research on his own and also got some great help from his Godfather Lance. Lance was in Oregon (from Austin) and picked up a BUNCH of information for Joe while visiting family in Roseburg.
