Climbing Trees

The weather has been so nice lately that we've been able to be outside more and more!  While I was getting some yard work done, Tim climbed the tree in front of the house.

Where are those boys?

This is what happens when the boys don't get home from school when they usually do.  Batsy patiently waits, watching the door, willing it to open.

Lunch with 7th Graders

Last week the 7th graders at Sellwood Middle School had their Middle East Feast - a culmination of their studies about the Middle East.  Joe invited me to join him for lunch (nothing like having a meal with about a hundred and fifty seventh graders).  Here are Joe and two of his buddies (Stefan and Justin) reacting to me pulling out the camera.

Uncle's Birthday!

Last week we got together with the family to celebrate Uncle's birthday with dinner at El Palenque (amazing El Salvadorian food) followed by the famous red heart shaped cake.  On the right, Uncle, Sidra and Tim are demonstrating the different ways to wear party hats.

PARAMEDIC!!!!!!!

Last Tuesday I (Joe) got nailed by two dodge balls and now have a bruised and swollen thumb. Then on Wednesday I went to the doctors office and they thought it might be broken so I had to get a x-ray and the x-ray tech person wasn't there. So then I got a splint to wear till I get x-rays.

Then all Thursday I wore the splint. Then on Friday I finally got x-rays and now I have to wait till Monday for the x-rays to be read. But now I don't have to wear the ugly splint when I am at my house (I was supposed to wear it all Saturday but I didn't bother with it). So now I am just relaxing and waiting for the x-rays to come in.

I told Tim he could either wear the moustache before school or during recess.  He opted for the larger audience of recess.

And once again, only in Portland-

First, we apologize that we didn't get a picture of this, perhaps we'll keep a camera in the car from now on.
We pulled up to a stop light and crossing in front of us:
A 20-something wearing a kilt, riding a unicycle, carrying his bag pipes in one arm.
We were extremely disappointed he wasn't playing them.
