Run, Jump, and Blow

Joe finished up track last week with a big meet and incredible weather.  So incredible it was a little hot sitting in the stands watching him.  He competed in five events but skipped one of his favorites, the javelin.  He twisted his ankle while running from one event to the next and decided he'd had enough.

He also had his spring concert with the intermediate band, he plays the bass clarinet.  This was the music teacher's 20th year so it was a fun evening to be at.  All three bands played an encore of 867-5309/Jenny Jenny.

Art Night at Lewis Elementary

Tim's school had Art Night this evening.  He was one of the docents for his classroom and talked about the artwork they did in the style of Matisse.  He's pointing out his painting on the left.

The evening included the dedication of the AMAZING new murals that artist in residence Rodolfo Serna created and painted with the students.  As part of the dedication, Rodolfo and some Aztec dancers performed.

Then Tim and the recorder club played.  Grandparents Bullock brought along some special guests, Auntie Pam and Uncle Jim - family friends from back in the old days in Northern California.

The Week In Review

It was a mellow week here for the most part.  Joe keeps up with track.  He did a relay (4x100) and tried the hurdles for the first time too.  So far he seems to enjoy having his friend Stefan in track with him the most.  The running, jumping, and throwing stuff is secondary.

Tim's class went on a downtown walking trip.  Steve got to go because one of the kids from his class attended too.  To summarize, there are a lot of old buildings downtown with interesting architecture.  Elvis stayed in one of them.

Holly has been busy out in the yard.  Digging up some things and planting others.  The garden is starting to look good.  We'll have some lettuce soon and probably need to plant more.  She also helped out at Joe's track meet, measuring the Turbo Javelin.

On the weekend, Steve went down to McMinville with some friends to a writing conference.  It had some good workshops and he got to hear Ursula LeGuin and Carlos Reyes, among others.  Then, after all the heady talk of writing, novels, poetry and creativity, Steve and his friends went and saw a monkey at a burger joint.  Poor monkey.  At least it had pants on.
